When decorating your home, is it usually a work in progress over time, or do you like to just get it done and move on?

When working with clients, I always make sure that I finish the room with the furniture, fabric choices, window treatments, rugs and accessories before I leave. But I always remind my customers that if and when they find a perfect “something” to make their space even more personal, whether it an uncovered treasure found in a desk drawer or a “must have” from Home Goods, to add it to their new space.

When decorating my own home, I find it is always an ongoing project. This guest room is a perfect example:

Remember I tried the canopy look:
And here is how the room looks today:
My friends think I am a perfectionist because I never quite feel finished with a room, but I think I change things around in a room for a couple of reasons.
One, because of my business, I am always reading and getting inspirations from the latest styles and designs. (Somebody has to be the guinea pig.)

Two, because I love to shop and ‘find’ great accessories and ideas that I must buy!

Three, I just love to decorate! I always seem to have a project or two going on somewhere in the house. Changing this, updating that…..

So how about you? Do you finish a room and then go on to the next? Or are you always looking for a way to modify and revise a room?

Another reason I love my NH home:
