I can’t believe summer is coming to a close. When I came outside this morning with my cup of coffee, there was a definite chill in the air that was not there last week.

I’ve noticed just a few small signs, but you can tell nature is changing to Fall. This was the first weekend at the farmer’s market I noticed gourds for sale. I picked up a few unusual looking gourds for decorating:

I love to decorate with gourds because of their uniqueness. So many easy ways to decorate with them:

My husband and I took a ride through the neighborhood and found a few other signs of Autumn:

But no major leaf changes yet:

I love coming back and taking the same photos after the leaves change. A before & after in nature!

And when the leaves do change, decorating with branches is free, easy and looks so great indoors:

I have not seen any pumpkins yet for sale, have you?

Nature is showing us hints of getting ready to change to the cooler weather. Are you ready for it?

Summer came and went for me since i was crazy with work so I’m not ready! I hate the dark and short days (like Kristi) as well and Fall is only pretty in October, after that it’s dreary:(
No, no, stop it! I can’t take it! I’m not ready for fall and cold and short days! I need to go south for the winter!!!
There’s definitely a coolness to the air settling in here, too. I’m not sure how I feel about that – I’m ready to get back on track as far as the routine that comes with September, but I really am loving the sunny weather… maybe just a little longer, please? And, no sign of pumpkins or gourds here yet!
I love the idea of your planter to change with the seasons. Great idea. Here in NH it is def getting cooler. I love summer but I also love Fall. So nice to not be so hot!!
I have not seen too many signs of fall here in southeastern Michigan. Labor Day was quite warm and humid. I am so ready for cooler weather.
In my front landscape, I have a large planter (4 ft. tall, 32 in. diameter) that I change out seasonally. Yesterday, I put in the fall display which includes a tall grass, yellow mum plant, purple and yellow pansies, a flowering kale and…a pumpkin! It may be a tad early for a pumpkin but I am seeing almost ripe pumpkins in the fields so, it is fair game in my opinion.
I use the “faux” pumpkins for longevity. Hopefully, this will all be good until Thanksgiving when I will switch into Christmas mode.
Oooh what a lovely to look at post, Kelly!
We too are seeing some of the first hints of fall. A few leaves here and there starting to change; gourds at the farmer’s market and just this morning a bit of chill in the air enough to pull up the afghan from the bench at the end of the bed…brrrr!
But what lovely colors we’ll see later too!I too like to use free fall branches in decorating.
so bitter sweet but I do love Fall…just Winter I can do without. Love decorating with nature esp. branches and berries.
