Do you know what is one of the most versatile pieces of furniture you can own? A console/sofa table. You know, those tall, narrow tables you can use in so many ways?
There are so many different uses for console tables and they work well in every room of your home. (well, maybe not in the bathroom – but only because there is not enough room.) The most common usage for these decorative tables is the entryway. You can make a great first impression and the entrance to your home can be made warm and welcoming.
A console table, a mirror or artwork, a lamp or other tall object and a tray are all you need to put a great look together. If there is room underneath, a pretty, large basket can be very functional for storage. It is like a little ‘welcome to my home look.’
Another room a console/sofa table is perfect for is your living room. When you are floating a seating group in the middle of the room, a console table behind the sofa gives the eye something to look at besides the back of the sofa. The table should be around the same height as the sofa. Place a lamp for reading, (two for symmetry if room is available,) and a pretty flower arrangement or bowl. It is also a great place to store extra ottomans underneath for extra seating.
If you are putting two sofas back to back, use a console/sofa table between them. Again, use lamps and accessories for function and attractiveness.
Another ideal placement for the console table is the dining room. That is if you are not using a buffet table, both would be one to many. I like to put my extra dining chairs flanking each side of the table.
So as you can see, there are many different roles a console/sofa table can take on. The average size of a console table is 42Wx14Dx30″H. Just imagine your empty space/wall transformed into a beautiful and functional display! Comments?Share on Facebook
