Selecting a Master Bath Paint Color

Monday, February 2nd, 2015

This is my master bath now:

I am actually embarrassed to show you all. But this is a good lesson on how to select a paint color using your existing fixtures:

I originally had big plans for this bathroom. This is the original wall color from when we bought the house, (yellow) trying to work with the very PINK undertoned tub, tile and granite countertop:

Now I just want to finish this room. The only restriction I was given was that I had to keep the tub, wall tile and flooring! So the quickest and easiest way to do that is by painting the walls.

So where to start looking at colors? I know I had to find a color that would work well with the pink undertone. So I gave a few colors a try:

I was not loving any of the pinky beiges such as Shaker Beige or Muslin. I had hoped to maybe use a pretty spa blue color:

But I found the best harmonized color palette was the Purple Grays, such as Benjamin Moore’s Collingwood OC-28.:

I also like the Elephant Gray 2109-50 and Portland Gray 2109-60:

Just perfect! It might not be my favorite color yet, but it works so well with the existing granite, tile and trim that the whole room will be transformed! That is what makes a room beautiful, all the parts working together.

I will have this bath painted within the next two weeks and will be sure to share after photos. So excited to finally get the room painted!

Color Swap

Tuesday, January 20th, 2015

I think it is so interesting that some of the colors between Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams are so similar. For instance: Ben Moore Revere Pewter HC-172: revere pewter

Sherwin Williams Collonade Gray SW 7641:

sw collonade

There is actually a list I have been adding to over the years. These colors not only look the same they also match based on their RGB values. A color’s RGB value indicates its red, green, and blue intensity. Each intensity value is on a scale of 0 to 255, or in hexadecimal from 00 to FF. Ben Moore Palladian Blue HC-144: bm palladian blue

via

Sherwin Williams Rainwashed SW 6211: sw rainwashed

via

So similar. This must be why these two colors are both so popular! Ben Moore Manchester Tan HC-81: man tan   Sherwin Williams Softer Tan SW 6141: SW7641sw6141 Maybe your painter only uses Sherwin Williams paint but you had your heart set on BM White Dove OC-17 for your trim color. SW has a match that looks exactly the same. It is called Greek Villa SW 7551. Ben Moore Classic Gray OC-23: bm classic gray

via

Sherwin Williams Zurich White SW 7626: sw zurich white

via

Pretty remarkable how close the colors look. Ben Moore Raspberry Truffle 2080-10: bm raspberry truffle

via

Sherwin Williams Poinsettia SW 6594: sw poinsettia

via

Ben Moore Wythe Blue HC-143: bm wythe blue2

via

Sherwin Williams Quietude SW 6212: sw quietude

via

I hope you enjoyed! I love looking at colors different ways. I have a whole list if anyone is interested. I also wanted to share with you that I received an email yesterday that stated, “We’re writing to let you know that you’ve been voted by the Houzz community as a winner of our Best of Houzz 2015 awards!” I was so excited! Hooray! houzz badge I am off to Sarasota, FL tomorrow. I am hoping it is sunny and warm! Thanks everyone!

Rainwashed SW6211:

Rainwashed, from the Sherwin Williams paint collection, is one of the most perfect turquoise colors I have ever seen. That is why it has become one of my trusted go-to paint colors.

Look how pretty Rainwashed looks with these gorgeous coral chairs:

Speaking of coral, Sherwin Williams Coral Reef SW6606 was named the paint color of the year for 2015. That was the only color announcement for 2015 I was excited and pleased about!

So gorgeous!

And you know how I love coral and navy:

Sherwin Williams most popular gray is Agreeable Gray SW7029:

I love a paint color that changes in different lighting and what surrounds it. I consider this color a favorite greige and looks great with white as well as stained trim.

Naval SW6244:

I am actually thinking of using this blue on my door. Isn’t it so pretty?

A beautiful blue green is SW Oyster Bay6206:

Sherwin Williams Ryegrass SW6487:

This is a beautiful green that works well with both white and stained trim also.

These are just a few of my favorite Sherwin Williams paint colors! Take a look at them next time you are looking for that perfect paint color. Any of your favorites I forgot to list?
