Great Hostess Gifts for the Holiday’s

Written by Kelly on November 17th, 2010

I thought I would try this year to be a little of top of things for the Holiday’s.  This includes a lot of list writing.  One thing I always regret, is at the last minute, always, as I am getting ready to go to a family function, friend get together or Christmas party, I forgot all about getting a gift for the hostess!  If you’re like me sometimes and need some inspiration for a great hostess gift, check out these gifts!”

Here are some of my favorite gift ideas for any host or hostess!

Holiday CD.  Not everyone buys for themselves but everyone loves.  Depending on your hostess, there is a wide variety of styles and choices.  Each year they seem to come out with different versions or adaptations to our favorite Holiday music. Does your host love Jazz? Country? There are so many choices!

Home Scents. I love to give and receive home scents.  The diffusers they sell at Pier1 are terrific.  Soy candles are also always a great gift.  They burn clean (no soot in the air) and smell wonderful.

Assorted Baskets. Another idea I think is very thoughtful, is to bring a small basket of assorted bagels or muffins.  Wrap in plastic then wrap with a linen napkin with specialty coffee or tea (and maybe a pretty mug) for their breakfast the next morning after.  This gift will be very appreciated!

Holiday Flowers. You can bring these in a vase or just the vase alone is a great gift.  Show what a smart guest you are by not dropping a bouquet of flowers to her at the door.  Your hostess does not have time to go looking for a vase when she is greeting guests and looking at the timer on the oven for the appetizers!  An even nicer gift would be to order a fresh flower arrangement sent to her the day of the party. Edible arrangements are also fun (and delicious!) and can add an instant dessert or appetizer to any gathering.

Small plants are another great option.  Rosemary, thyme and lavender are perfect for a kitchen counter near a window in a small pot and they will enjoy their scents as well. These small plants also last a while- so every time that you hostess looks at the plant, they can be reminded of you!

Special Beverage or delicious chocolate or Holiday treats.  If you bring a great wine or delicious gourmet chocolates, wrap and attach a small note: “This gift is just for you.  NOT to be shared.” Any hostess would secretly love a gift that they don’t have to share with anyone but themselves!

Focus on your host’s hobby! If you know your hostess, think about what they enjoy doing for fun. Do they love to cook?  There are so many great cookbooks out there and amazing cooking tools!  Do they love to read? Would they love to receive the latest bestseller or a book store certificate?  Movie gift certificate?

Decorating Certificate.  And if you really love your host/hostess, wouldn’t it be nice to give them a gift certificate from Kelly Bernier Designs;)

I hope these ideas helped!  Do you have any other ideas for our special host and hostess?  Do tell!
