Agree Or Disagree?

Sunday, October 13th, 2013

One of the best pieces of decorating advice I have always tried to follow, is that when you think your decorated room is finished, take a step back and snap a picture:

When you look at the photo, does the room still look finished to you? Does anything need to be added? Or taken away? Let’s take this bedroom picture above for an example. I think it is very pretty, but did you notice an idea that might make this bedroom look even better?

I think a long scarf or piece of fabric at the bottom of the bed would look perfect here to balance the top and bottom of the bed.. I experimented with a piece from another bed:

I think it looks much better! (It does need to be a bit wider though than the example piece.) I have always loved using that bottom piece on the bed. Does anyone know what it is called??  I think using the same fabric as the pillow and window treatments will be the perfect finishing touch for the room:

Gray and White Bedroom Design

Liz gray & white comforter

I just finished a recent bedroom consultation and if I may say, I think it came out fabulous! I love everything we choose. It started with the comforter above. Wall color was next:

Benjamin Moore Cobblestone Gray 1606

The color you see on the screen does not do this color any justice. It is a beautiful warm, bluish medium gray. It works with the bedding perfectly.

Then time for the fun accessories!:

The rug pattern works well with the bedding. So pretty!

A beautiful pair of lamps:

And always a pretty bedside clock:

Beautiful Color Combinations You May Not Have Thought Of

Friday, August 16th, 2013

lavender & aqua

Looking for a unique color combination to use in your home? Would you have imagined the room above looking so beautiful with a combination of lavender and turquoise? I absolutely love this room!

I love the mustard and fuchsia together:

What do you think of teal and orange together?

I would not think of putting pink and red together:

But I think it really works! Not my style, but it must put a smile on everyone that walks in.

Look how beautiful turquoise and coral work together:

And emerald and coral:

I think this room is stunning using taupe, turquoise and red accents:

Hopefully I have given you some new ideas for color combinations. Unique and beautiful! Have you seen any unusual combinations lately?

Have a great weekend everyone!

My Daughter’s Before & After Bedroom

Wednesday, July 31st, 2013

Do you remember a little while ago when I shared my daughter’s (and son-in-law’s) bedroom in her new house? She had asked me for advice on helping her select paint colors and decorating advice.

This is a before picture when they first moved in:

And here is the after picture she sent me:

Isn’t it pretty?  What a lot of hard work they both put in. They did follow my advice on paint colors and chose Ben Moore Coventry Gray for the walls and  Cloud White for the cabinets.

And After:

They still have a few small projects they want to do but it already looks great. Did you notice her new pad on the window seat? I suggested she buy an extra window panel and make a new cover to coordinate.

They also repainted her old dresser in Ben Moore Stonington Gray:

Such a great job Meg and Ian! You should be so proud. I sure am! Thank you for taking after pictures and sharing. I love when people send me their after photos to share with everyone. What do you think everyone? Isn’t the room so pretty?
