New Bed = New Bedroom Design!

Sunday, March 31st, 2013

newbed

It only makes sense that when a new bed is purchased, you should continue to redecorate the whole bedroom! Don’t you agree? :)

I knew you would back me up on this! My husband actually picked out our new bed. It reminds him of a bed we owned years ago that he has always missed. It’s style is British Colonial:

I like that the bed sits up higher and that I do not have to deal with a bed skirt:

I just purchased the white bedding that I will keep. I put a little design board together for myself starting with the fabric I ordered for the window panels:

I am also going to use this fabric above to make a boudoir pillow for the bed. It is such an easy way to decorate the bed:

Here is my plan:

Since the furniture is heavy looking, I tried to lighten it with crystals, mirrors and other light accessories. I could pick so many different rugs but I think this one works well with the light and dark together. I love my new fabric! I will post pictures when room is complete. Soon I hope!

Any other suggestions my friends? I would love to hear your ideas.

Thank you!!

A New Bedroom Update

Wednesday, February 27th, 2013

source

I wanted to share an online bedroom project I recently finished that I think came out so pretty. My client Beth, had wanted to update her bedroom into a new, bright and fresh space.

She decided to use her existing bedroom furniture which is a darker stained wood. She had also recently painted the room with Ben Moore Palladian Blue HC-144:

I found this fabric for her because she wanted something a little more custom in the room without spending too much. This fabric will be made in window panels and a long boudoir pillow for the bed:

I suggested white bedding which she loved:

And here is the final design board:

Beth is really happy with our choices, which makes me really happy! Thanks for letting me share Beth. What do you think of of her design plan?

Thank you for voting for my entry in the Tobi Farley design contest!! Just a few more days! Please try to vote each day! Thank you so very much!!!!

Weekend Project – Redesigning My Bookshelves Again!

DSCN1239

This past weekend I wanted to finish this project I have been working on for a while now that I just can’t seem to get right. Could this be my lucky day? Let me take you through the changes these bookshelves have been through in the past couple years.

Before:

And after painting:

You can read more about finding the right gray undertones to paint here.

Then I saw a photo with a cabinet built under the shelves just like mine. I purchased a standard kitchen cabinet at Home Depot and painted the same color as the shelves:

I was happy with them for awhile until I started my living room redesign a few months ago and then I wanted something more! This redesign is being built around this fabric that I have loved forever:

So when I saw this Amy Butler wallpaper at Joss and Main:

I knew what was going to help these shelves look even better:

And then I decorated with a few of my favorite things:

I am loving them again! I love to style them different ways with different accessories, but for now I proclaim them finished! (except for the lighting I want to put in the back.) :)

What do you think? I love wallpaper behind shelves, don’t you? Do you find yourself redesigning your home over & over again like me??

Beautiful Appleton

Friday, July 13th, 2012

Every once in a while, I come across a great color and product that I am so pleased with I want to spread the word!

I have found another such color in my travels. Remember my post about California Paints here? California paints contacted me and asked if I would like to do a color project together. I was just getting ready to paint my office so the timing was perfect!

The reason I chose this blue-green color is because in all of the pictures of offices I have seen painted, this blue-green color was always my favorite:

After I sampled the paint, I decided to also use this color to paint the ceiling. While looking at the color, I wanted to make it a little lighter, so I mixed the Appleton color with white (half and half ration). When the paint dried, you could easily tell that the ceiling is a little lighter than the walls. This is a look that I really love. Here is my office painted in California Paint Appleton:

Isn’t the color so pretty? I added a few accessories to show you how well the Appleton works with so many other colors:

I was recommended to use the interior latex ‘Super Scrub Interior.’  The product has exceptional stain resistance, superior stain release and unparalleled performance and durability. To be perfectly honest, the paint went on so smoothly. Really nice. Dried quick too!

If you can picture the BM color Palladian Blue with a cross of the BM Wyeth Blue, that is a very close representation of the CP Appleton. A little less green than the Wythe Blue but a little more green that Palladian Blue. Doesn’t that color sound perfect?!

So if you are looking for the perfect blue-green color for your walls, try California Paint Appleton. You will thank me! Do you think you will give Appleton a try? It is color tested and looks beautiful!
