Do you ever wish you could easily find a window expert? Someone who will come into your home, measure, go back to their office and make fabulous custom window treatments and then return and install them?
Most people automatically think that this professional would be a seamstress, when in actuality who you should be looking for is a an expert in sewing soft treatments. A seamstress is someone, who by definition, is a woman who sews and makes clothes. There is a big difference between sewing clothing and window treatments.
Instead, you will want to look for an expert in sewing soft treatments, such as window panels, draperies and pillows. This person will have both the qualifications and experience to help you design and create custom window treatments for your home.
I put a few important questions together to ask when you are considering hiring an expert to help with your windows:
1. What types of projects make up the majority of your work?
You want someone skilled in window treatments, not hemming pants.
2. How long have you been in business?
You would like someone with experience. You are paying them good money and do not want to them to practice on your windows.
3. Do you have a workshop for sewing exclusively?
An important reason why you want to know if they have a workroom just for sewing is because you do not want your beautiful fabric to be dragging on someone’s kitchen floor!
4. Do you come to the home and measure and then come back to install them?
One of my key hiring policies is that they come to my home and measure and then bring them back to install! Well worth the money paid.
5. May I please see photos of previous projects?
Most professionals have a website where you can view their previous window projects they have worked on, but if they do not, they should have photos of their work that you can look at. Make sure that you ask to see a sampling of their work, to see if it matches your personal and home style.
These questions will help you find an experienced professional to help you with making your windows beautiful. Does anyone have other questions that would be helpful?
I love warming up and finishing a room with simple yet sophisticated window treatments, don’t you?
