The Beautiful House of Turquoise

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

One of my favorite reasons on having my own blog is letting me share what I love and what makes me happy, with the hope that you also will love.  When it comes to beautiful pictures on blogs, I have decided no one comes close to Erin at the House of Turquoise.

I never even knew I loved the color turquoise until I found her blog and pictures. She also loves teal, robin’s egg blue, aqua, sky blue, seafoam green and ocean blue.

Isn’t this room beautiful?!

This is such a small assortment of her beautiful pictures she has posted. I read her statement:

“It’s rooms like these make me so happy I have this blog. This sort of beauty NEEDS to be shared!”

I totally agree!  Thank you for sharing with us Erin!  Isn’t her blog gorgeous?  You must see for yourself - House of Turquoise

Top 20 Selling BM Paint Colors for 2010

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

On the Benjamin Moore Color Expert Exchange on Facebook, Linday H. wrote in a great question to Ben Moore: What are your top 20 selling Paint Colors for 2010  thus far?

                                                                             WilliamDiamondandAnthonyBaratta

I thought blues, greens, purples….

Benjamin Moore responded:

Lindsay-  From purely a volume standpoint, they are mostly whites and neutrals.   Are you looking for color trend information?

White Dove     Linen White        Navajo White      Decorators White     Shaker Beige    Atrium White    Bone White
Manchester Tan     Super White     Simply White     Monroe Bisque     Cloud White     Antique White     Lenox Tan
Bleeker Beige     Putnam Ivory     China White     Chantilly Lace     Powell Buff     Black

They sure are white and neutral!  I do use some of these colors, see previous post here,  but I am wondering who is painting all of this white around?  I understand a couple of the beige colors such as Shaker Beige, Manchester Tan, Bleeker Beige, Lenox Tan and Black?! are not as white as the others, but they are still so…so….beige!

I guess they do work for the ‘designer look’ images .  And I do love white kitchens, but not so much all white in living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms.  I would not want to use most of these whites in an entry either,  just to boring and blah.  No personality!  Now look at a few of these rooms with color:

Are you with me that color on the wall is a happier, complete look?  So, where do you think all that white paint is going? I do like the all white look in some instances (when it is all about the art),  but I think a wall color coordinates and pulls everything in the room together.

Benjamin Moore  came back and asked Heather: ” Are you looking for color trend information?” I think I will write back to them and say, “Yes, I would like to see the best selling paint colors in real colors.”  Then I will share here with you. Comments?

Isn’t it just amazing?  Stunning?  Gorgeous?  I just love this picture and it’s colors.  It is one of the art pieces from Jen Beckman’s  20×200 art studio.  She highlights various artists weekly and showcases a wide variety of art styles.

In my recent post  Beautiful Blue & You  ,  I discussed how the color combination of blue and green was becoming quite the latest stir with many not believing it a possible color arrangement until they actually saw the colors together for themselves.

Nature combines green & blue beautifully.   Who knows better how to provide us with these great color combinations?

Beautiful Blue and You

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

I posted here earlier this year about Pantone’s color choice for 2010, the color turquoise.

But I have not seen much of the color as yet.  I have seen a lot of blue, which is turquoise  I know,  but more of the mid to deep blues.  From the fashion colors at the Oscars ( fashion is a strong indicator of what the home decor colors will soon be):

To House Beautiful who has dedicated the whole March 2010 issue on the color blue.(It is the first time HB has ever had an issue dedicated to only one color.)  They have even posted a special guide named ” Our complete guide to blue decor.”

A color combination that is really hot right now is blue and green.  My first thought was huh??  But look at the photos below and I bet you will change your mind!
