This past weekend I wanted to finish this project I have been working on for a while now that I just can’t seem to get right. Could this be my lucky day? Let me take you through the changes these bookshelves have been through in the past couple years.
Before:
And after painting:
You can read more about finding the right gray undertones to paint here.
Then I saw a photo with a cabinet built under the shelves just like mine. I purchased a standard kitchen cabinet at Home Depot and painted the same color as the shelves:
I was happy with them for awhile until I started my living room redesign a few months ago and then I wanted something more! This redesign is being built around this fabric that I have loved forever:
Fresco- Greenhouse Fabrics
So when I saw this Amy Butler wallpaper at Joss and Main:
I knew what was going to help these shelves look even better:
And then I decorated with a few of my favorite things:
I am loving them again! I love to style them different ways with different accessories, but for now I proclaim them finished! (except for the lighting I want to put in the back.)
What do you think? I love wallpaper behind shelves, don’t you? Do you find yourself redesigning your home over & over again like me??

Thank you Kristie!
Kelly,
It looks fabulous! Great color, great wallpaper. Love how you showed your progression – you’ve come a long way, baby!!!
xoxo
Kelly,
I love it!!! Looks really fabulous. I like how you included your progression – you’ve come a long way, baby! xoxo
That is why I keep changing things around- because I love to and I have fun doing it! Thanks Connie!
Thank you Linda! I have loved that fabric for yours and also said I was going to use somewhere. You have to come by in NH sometime!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE!! Great job my friend. That fabric from Green house is also a swatch I have at home that I picked for a client’s bedroom. The husband vetoed it as being too “girly” but I do love that too.God are we similar
I say if this is what you love, go for it!
As you know, my slogan/motto is “Love the Home You’re In … Again!”
The best part about our homes and being decorators, is that we can do restyling projects whenever we want…and probably spending little if anything on it.
You’ve inspired me to try a little hutch restyling of my own. Don’t know if I’m going to keep it this way, but it’s fun trying out new things!
Thanks Sheila! I think the cabinet made such a difference too. And it makes a nice place to hide stuff!
I think the wall paper is so much fun, and the colours in it are peeerfect! A light will be the total icing on the cake. Great job, Kelly!
PS – love the cabinet you added earlier – it makes a huge difference.
